Prayer Groups

1 Thessalonians 5 vs 16- 18: Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

James 5 vs 13: Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise.

Mark 11 vs 24: Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Daily Prayers

We believe in the power of prayer. We have different groups which meet throughout the week to intercede on behalf of the school, from teachers to parents. Groups of teachers meet for prayer every-day while the parents meet on a Friday. This is to ensure that our school is always covered in prayer, allowing God to fix those broken places where we cannot reach. II Chronicles 7:14 reads,  “If my people, which are called by my name would humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Class Devotions

Except on assembly days, each day, each class begins with devotions. We have exciting devotional sessions before learning begins. We teach morals through exploring bible stories. It is amazing how pupils open up and become so involved. We personify the characters in a way that the pupils identify with, after all, the problems faced by people during Bible times are the same problems we face.

Hymn Singing/ Praise and Worship

It is through praise and worship that we as Christians draw near to God. Psalms 22 says ‘He inhabits the praises of His people’. Psalm 100:1-5 says ‘Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. …Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise...’ For this reason, every Friday after assembly, pupils rapture into song and dance as they praise and worship God.

Staff Prayer Groups

Prayer is a crucial part of everyday living in todays world. There are many troubles and stresses that tire humanity on a daily basis. But take heart...Jesus has over-come the world! Thankfully there is a Father to depend upon. Our school strives to keep itself continually saturated in prayers. Each staff member of MCS is placed in a group, and each group spends one of their break time periods in prayer. Examples of topics prayed for include: classes, individual students, up-coming events, sporting fixtures and trips, parents and the school management team.

Praying Parents Group – Parents Who Care – Psalms 91

We are a group of parents who desire to see our school (and therefore our children) prosper in all that it does academically, sporting, social and spiritual and meet every Friday at 7.30am in the library reading wing to pray for our school during each term, for the people, vision and mission.
It was declared at the school’s formation we are Midlands Christian School.

Matthew 5v14-16

"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

We love that our school is an institution that puts God first. As parents who love their children and want the very best for them we want to ensure that we support the school in the simplest and yet most important way we can and that is by prayer, to seek, know and align our school to God’s will.

Phillipians 4v6-7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

We have an amazing God who does not want His children (us) to lack for anything, just as we as parents want to provide the best for our children. He, therefore calls us to come to Him, just as our children come to us when they have needs. He, listens and is faithful in meeting our needs, in the same way we meet our children’s needs that they never need worry where their next meal comes from, we need not worry because God our Father also provides for us.

We therefore constantly pray for God to be Lord over our school and that the reality of Phillipians 4v6-7 would be a living truth for the children, parents, teachers, leadership, administration and staff at Midlands Christian.

James 5v17-18

“Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.  Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.”

How amazing that God would do such a thing for but a man yet he does. We therefore believe when we pray God is faithful to move in our lives to do the seemingly impossible because with God nothing, is impossible. Already we have seen Him, moving in the school in an amazing way as He moves the school to another spiritual level.

We are so excited about what God has in store for our school and so continue to pray that as our souls prosper so may we prosper in our academic, sporting and social lives as a school. We therefore hope you will join us in seeking God as watchmen for our school.

May God’s vision be realized and fulfilled at our school even as we continue to dwell in His shadow, for the glory of our Father in Heaven. Amen.
